Vellore Lok Sabha By-election Result 2019 LIVE Updates: DMK Widens Lead Over AIADMK to 26,000+ Votes
Chennai: Counting of votes for the Vellore Lok Sabha constituency began at 8 am on Friday at a center set up on the premises of an engineering college here, with three-tier security paraphernalia, officials said.The poll to the Vellore Lok Sabha seat, originally scheduled to be held in April alongside some other seats in Tamil Nadu, was canceled following tax raids here and cash seizures.
DMK candidate Kathir Anand crossed 4 lakh votes. So far, Anand has secured 4,04,044 for the DMK, while Shanmugam is lagging behind at 3,93,242. NTK's Deepalakshmi has 22,003 in her favor.
— AIADMK candidate AC Shanmugam is now trailing by 14,214 votes as DMK candidate Kathir Anand leads after the 11th round of counting.
— With over 47.8% vote, DMK maintains the lead in Vellore by-elections. Kathir Anand garnered is leading by over 12,000 votes.
— The ruling AIADMK which was leading in Vellore Lok Sabha seat since Friday morning was pushed to the second place by arch-rival DMK and the opposition party is ahead by a margin of over 9,000 votes.
— DMK's Kathir Anand has taken over the lead by a margin of 9,883 votes in Vellore.
— The difference of votes have come down to 3,162 with AIADMK's Shanmugam at 2,40361 and DMK's Anand at 2,37189.

He was introduced to the RSS at the age of eight, beginning a long association with the organization. Modi left home after finishing high-school in part due to an arranged marriage to Jashodaben Chimanlal, which he abandoned, and publicly acknowledged only many decades later. Modi traveled around India for two years and visited a number of religious centers before returning to Gujarat. In 1971 he became a full-time worker for the RSS. During the state of emergency imposed across the country in 1975, Modi was forced to go into hiding. The RSS assigned him to the BJP in 1985, and he held several positions within the party hierarchy until 2001, rising to the rank of general secretary.
Modi was appointed Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001, due to Keshubhai Patel's failing health and poor public image following the earthquake in Bhuj. Modi was elected to the legislative assembly soon after. His administration has been considered complicit in the 2002 Gujarat riots,[a] or otherwise criticized for its handling of it. A Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team found no evidence to initiate prosecution proceedings against Modi personally.[b] His policies as chief minister, credited with encouraging economic growth, have received praise.[10] His administration has been criticized for failing to significantly improve health, poverty, and education indices in the state.[c]
